April 29-May1: Penguicon lands at the Troy Marriott
If you are a dreamer, come in...
Necessity is the Mother of Invention. During Jon "maddog" Hall's footnote to Penguicon 7.0, he issued a challenge. The challenge came in two parts: 1.) envision the near-term world as you would like to see it 2.) figure out how to use free software to reach that near-term goal. Last year we took this challenge one step closer by holding a panel at the convention where an innovative and inspiring discussion ensued. The plan was for those of you that are interested in helping shape the path of the world to come to spend the year developing the software plan, to present at Penguicon, where we can vote on which vision to follow, and all collectively create that software. We are pushing this challenge forward into this year's con. That's right, even if you are not a programmer--even if you hate computers--you can bring the inspiration to a group of coders, developers, hackers, and makers and potentially see your vision created. Basically, anything goes, the important part is for you to bring your unique vision--your unique path--to the rest of us.

You have 20 days to put together an idea. The only requirement is that you can talk about this idea for about a page lengths of text. This should give us a good understanding of your proposed idea. The Eco Geek Staff is your audience so keep in mind that you should probably define terms, as well as spell out acronyms. The Eco Geeks are a diverse panel of awesome people, so you can bet that at least one of us will know what you are talking about.
Please submit these to firstname.lastname@example.org by April 29, 2011.
Winners will be announced henceforth! Um... Prizes will be announced henceforth-ish as well!
